物化性质：
色疏松细粉，手感滑腻，不溶于水、乙醇和乙醚，溶于热水、醚，遇酸分解为硬脂酸和相应的镁盐。在室温水中溶解度77-79mg/L，溶于热的乙醇。遇酸分解为硬脂酸和相应的镁盐。微有特臭，有滑腻感。
产品用途：
该品用作聚氯乙烯热稳定剂，以及化妆品年面粉、润肤油膏和医药片剂原料（赋形药、润滑药）；用于校木粉中使之润滑光亮透明；油漆工业作透明平光剂等。作为聚氯乙烯稳定剂使用的金属皂类多系镉、钡、钙、锌、镁的高级脂肪酸盐，成基是硬脂酸是月桂酸的盐类。金属皂类稳定剂的性能随着金属的种类和酸根的不同而异，大体规律如下：耐热性：镉、锌皂初期耐热性好；钡、钙、镁、锶皂长期耐热性好，铅皂处于中间。耐候性：镉、锌、铅、钡、锡皂较好。加工性：铅、镉皂的润滑性好，但酸根对润滑性也很有影响。广泛用于食品、医药、涂料、塑料、橡胶、纺织等

硬脂酸镁中毒处理方法
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1、皮肤接触：脱去污染的衣着，用大量流动清水冲洗；
2、眼睛接触：提起眼睑，用流动清水或生理盐水冲洗，就医；
3、吸入：脱离现场至空气新鲜处，如呼吸困难，给输氧，就医；
4、食入：饮足量温水，催吐，就医。
毒理学资料

毒性：属低毒类。有刺激和麻醉作用。
急性毒性：LD5012705mg/kg（大鼠经口）
刺激性:家兔经皮:1548mg（2天），间歇，皮肤刺激。
亚急性和慢性毒性：家兔分别吸入65g/m3，6小时/天，2周44g/m3，6小时/天，2周32g/m3，6小时/天，5周，分别出现3/4，1/4，3/4死亡。表现有足爪节律性痉挛、麻醉、暂时轻瘫、流涎、结膜刺激等症状。
致突变性：DNA损伤：大肠杆菌10μmol/L。
