It is believed that this inhibition is a result of the partial down-regulation of cytokine mRNA levels and inhibition of NF-κB activation. Studies indicate that serotonin is essential in protecting NK cells from apoptosis. In addition, these studies show that N-(p-Coumaroyl) Serotonin is essential in the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids.
