Suppression of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced phosphatidic acid generation by (±)-Lisofylline was demonstrated to protect BALB/c mice against septic shock and LPS-associated endotoxin lethality. (±)-Lisofylline exhibits antiinflammatory effects, demonstrated to inhibit production of TNF-α stimulated by LPS, block the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines in response to oxidative injury, and inhibit interleukin-12 (IL-12) signaling activity.
