描述：The bicarbonate buffering system is important in many different cellular processes. It is one of the major buffering systems used to maintain the pH of mammalian blood. It is an important buffer system in the acid-base homeostasis of living things, including humans. As a buffer, it tends to maintain a relatively constant plasma pH and counteract any force that would alter it. Used in the formation of acid in the lumen on the stomach. Used to neutralize the pH of the chyme leaving the stomach and entering the small intestine.
