        荧光假单胞菌分类学上属于细菌域、变形菌门、γ-变形菌纲、假单胞菌目、假单胞菌科的假单胞菌属。细胞为直的杆菌，大小为0.7-0.8X2.3-2.8 微米，不产芽孢，革兰氏染色阴性。有数根极生鞭毛，运动。需氧,进行严格的呼吸型代谢,以氧为电子受体。能以硝酸盐为替代的电子受体进行厌氧呼吸。化能营养异养，不需要有机生长因子。氧化酶阳性，接触酶阳性。能利用葡萄糖和果糖，有些菌株能从蔗糖合成果聚糖，明胶液化。生长温度范围 4-37℃，Z适生长温度是25-30℃。 DNA中G+C 含量是60-61%。广泛分布于自然界，如土壤、水、植物及动物活动环境中。该菌生化能力活跃，可降解许多人工合成化合物，常被用于环境保护。
