Pax6 is a nuclear transcription factor essential for the development of the central nervous system, eyes, nose, and endocrine glands. The family of Pax genes encodes transcriptional regulators which are major controllers of development in both vertebrates and invertebrates. Mutations in this gene are known to cause ocular diseases such as aniridia and Peter's anomaly. Pax6 is required for the differentiation of pancreatic islet alpha cells and binds to glucagon, insulin, and somatostatin promoters. The Pax6 Antibody (Purified) was generated against the highly conserved peptide (QVPGSEPDMSQYWPRLQ) derived from the C-terminus of the mouse Pax6 protein. The protein has a predicted molecular weight of 47-50 kDa.
