“做核酸,到昆山。”10年前,当昆山高新区喊出这句话的时候,谁也没有想到,10年后的今天,这句话不仅成为小核酸领域发展的“风向标”,而且一个自主的小核酸及生物医药产业创新体系已在昆山高新区形成。
敢为人先的前瞻布局
做核酸,到昆山,用核酸,看昆山。在业界为昆山高新区的小核酸及生物医药产业发展叫好,并羡慕其好运的时候,回顾昆山高新区发展小核酸及生物医药产业的历程,人们会在羡慕之余,连声叹服昆山高新区人一直以来破斧沉舟、敢干敢试的创新创业精神。
小核酸是生物制药的一个新兴领域,它通过双链RNA分子在mRNA水平关闭相应基因的表达或使该基因沉默,实现对疾病的诊断与ZL。这一技术被《科学》杂志和美国科学促进会评为2002年十大科学成就之首。
在2007年以前,昆山的生物医药产业近乎为零,仅有的几家生产辅药产品的传统制药厂也陆续关停。当时看来,昆山高新区似乎并不具备发展如此前沿、高端的小核酸产业的基础。然而,清华(启迪)科技园昆山分园和一位名叫梁子才的科学家的进驻,改变了这种状况。
2007年,梁子才在昆山创办苏州瑞博生物技术有限公司,发展小核酸产业的火种由此被引到了昆山高新区。瑞博公司的股东不仅有梁子才,还包括张礼和院士、席真教授、金奇教授等,都是国内小核酸领域的*专家。
瑞博公司的成立给昆山高新区带来的不仅有高端人才,还有发展小核酸及生物医药产业的理念和信心。昆山市政府和昆山高新区下决心开始发展生物医药产业,并提出要把小核酸及生物医药产业作为继光电产业之后Z重要的产业扶持发展。在这个过程中,清华(启迪)科技园昆山分园成为Z重要的推手。昆山市委、市政府对发展小核酸产业形成高度共识,为小核酸及生物医药产业的发展创造了良好的政策环境。
2008年9月,昆山小核酸产业基地奠基、小核酸研究所挂Pai。昆山,这个曾以加工制造业为主导产业的县级市,开始尝试在生物医药领域走出一条自主研发的道路。对此,ZG科学院院士陈润生曾赞叹:“一个县级市敢于在小核酸技术领域布局谋篇,体现了昆山科技创新的远见卓识。”
10年不改初心出成绩
十年磨一剑。经过近10年的努力,从小核酸起步,昆山高新区建设了覆盖小核酸、化学药、大分子蛋白药、生物材料等在内的高科技生物医药产业园。目前,全国80%的小核酸服务及科研试剂供应在这里聚集,90%的小核酸原料及药物在这里汇聚。瑞博、泽璟、博创同康等50多家新药研发、YL器械、药物研发服务外包企业在这里扎根发展;建设了张礼和、陈新滋等10多位科学家冠名的研究室,汇聚了ZY“千人计划”人才11人,承担了国家“重大新药创制”等重大科技专项14项。现有10个创新品种,包括4个1.1类新药正在临床研究,50多个创新药物和YL器械处于临床前研究阶段。
