重组人碳酸酐酶12，BMP受体(BMPR)有两型：BMPR1(BMPR1A和BMPR1B)及BMPR2，它们分别起丝氨酸和苏氨酸激酶作用，在结构和功能上和 TGF-β、激动蛋白受体非常相似。BMPR1A及BMPR1B结构相似，它们胞外段都很短，近膜侧有保守“Cys盒”，胞内有STK活性区域。BMPR1胞内区近膜部分（N末端）有高度保守丝氨酸、甘氨酸（GS）结构域，是活化起始部位。BMPR1A、BMPR1B及BMPR2各自与BMP亲和力很弱，不能单独介导信号传递。BMP与BMPR2结合时，BMPR2使BMPR1上GS域磷酸化，然后BMPR1(BMPR1A和BMPR1B)与两分子BMPR2形成具备BMP高亲和力异四聚体，为丝氨酸和（或）酪氨酸激酶受体。在信号转导中BMPR1A起主要作用，BMP信号特异性主要是由 BMPR1A决定。BMPR1将Smad1、5可能还有8MH2结构域磷酸化，Smad1或5（8）与Smad4结合成二聚体进入核内，对核内活动进行调控。
