Description
Caspofungin acetate is a sparingly soluble (0.367 mg/mL) lipopeptide antifungal which specifically targets the fungal cell membrane.
Mechanism
Caspofungin acts as an inhibitor to β(1,3)-D-Glucan synthase, an enzyme which synthesizes β(1,3)-D-Glucan, a polysaccharide of D-glucose monomers found in the fungal cell wall.
Spectrum
Caspofungin acetate is used primarily against Aspergillus and Candida fungal species.
