RuBi-nicotine Novel, caged nicotine compound, uncaged by visible light

Biological Description

Novel caged-ruthenium-bipyridine based nicotine compound. Releases nicotine upon irradiation with biologically harmless blue and green light. Exhibits extremely fast uncaging kinetics, high quantum yield in visible region of the spectrum and high water solubility. Active in biological systems, induces depolarisation and subsequent action potentials in neurons in vivo.
